After 15 years, John Marston's voice reveals why Red Dead Redemption's main character „is screaming at people, for no reason sometimes”
Rob Wiethoff had quite a few fun facts to reveal on his first Red Dead Redemption adventure, more than 15 years after voicing the main character of Rockstar's western.

Fifteen years ago, Rockstar Games studio released one of the best games in its history - Red Dead Redemption. Even though so much time has ed since the launch of this title, Rob Wiethoff - the same one who voiced John Marston - only recently played this game himself.
The actor shared an extensive gameplay video on his YouTube channel, in which he summarized his first steps in RDR as a player. By the way, he revealed a few interesting facts from the time when he was recording the lines of the game's main character. Wiethoff revealed, for instance, the reason why John Marston speaks much louder while riding a horse, even when his interlocutor is right next to him.
Wiethoff mentioned that the game also used motion capture for the actors' movements, and many lines were recorded during those sessions. The exception was the dialogues during horse riding - in this case, a recording booth was used. Furthermore, Wiethoff received a recommendation from the developer: the lines spoken from the horse had to be loud enough for the player to hear them even during a storm or while riding near a train.
What I have seen on here, which is so funny, is that John is screaming at people, for no reason sometimes [...] I them saying, 'You have to say your lines in a way that they would definitely be heard even if you are riding at a full gallop next to a freight train in a thunderstorm.' So just really scream them out loud because you definitely want the other person to hear you.
This problem was only solved by the new technology used in Red Dead Redemption 2. Thanks to it, Arthur Morgan spoke louder in chase scenes or when another character was far away. However, during calmer moments and when the character was close by, the game used a "quiet" version of the dialogue. Of course, this required recording these lines twice.
By the way, the fans were impressed by how accurately the actor shot the hat during the game. Players should use the "dead eye" mechanic at this point to easily hit the target. However, Wiethoff didn't take advantage of it, yet he made a precise, accurate shot, surprising both himself and the viewers.
