Baldur's Gate 3 player unexpectedly failed in Honour Mode, losing more than 50 hours of fun. Lousy weather was to blame
A Baldur's Gate 3 player lost a 50-hour save in Honour Mode because of the... weather.

The Honor Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3 is unforgiving of mistakes, and one player learned this the hard way. A Reddit with the nickname MmmYesCheesyBoi shared on the game's subreddit the story behind the end of his 50+ hour campaign in the most unforgiving variant of the game. All because of the bad weather.
A strange situation occurred during the fight with the dragon Ansur, who is one of the more challenging opponents in the Third Act. The player was already close to victory - the Karla he controlled managed to reduce the monster's health to just 1 HP. Sounds like success? Not necessarily. This situation activated the boss's ability - Stormheart Nova, a powerful area attack based on lightning, which strikes immediately at every character within range.
Since the other characters had already exhausted their actions and Karlach was the most severely injured, the player decided to save her with the Elixir of Lightning Resistance. She had 97 health points and theoretically should have survived the attack. Theoretically.
Unfortunately, MmmYesCheesyBoi didn't notice one detail: Karlach was... wet. In Honor Mode, unlike the lower difficulty levels, weather effects have a real impact on combat - rain is not just a visual addition, but also mechanically makes characters susceptible to damage from lightning. The "wet" status makes the elixir no longer enough.
The result? Karlach, controlled by him, was immediately killed by Stormheart Nova, and since Honor Mode doesn't allow a character's death, it was the end of the game. 50 hours of decisions, battles, romances, and exploration were lost in one turn due to the weather.
I can confidently say that tonight I will cry before sleep - MmmYesCheesyBoi summed up his tragic story.
The player's post on Reddit got a lot of reactions and comments, ranging from words of sympathy to jokes and warnings for other brave souls attempting to play the game in this mode. His story is a bitter but valuable lesson for all fans of Baldur’s Gate 3.
A similar case with a happy ending, though, recently happened in a completely different game. A No Man's Sky player got stuck on an exceptionally inhospitable planet in permadeath mode. The player was threatened with permanent character death, but thanks to the huge interest in his story, other players found a way to save the unfortunate guy from an inevitable restart of the fun.
