Is there multiplayer in SurrounDead? Coop explained

There can never be too many survival games with an open world on the market. And another such entry is SurrounDead, an indie game developed by Zurvivor studio. This title was released in Early Access, which means that the project is still being updated with new content. Because of this, players who decided to the developers and purchase this production are wondering if the coop / multiplayer mode will be added in the near future. And the answer to this question can be both good and bad for you.

Coop in SurrounDead explained

The idea of Early Access is all about adding new features after game’s early release. After all, such productions often don't have all core mechanics and systems implemented yet, and those that were added earlier, may receive a total rework. So, it's not surprising that in the case of SurrounDead, players are waiting for new features.

One of the anticipated additions is unquestionably the multiplayer mode. After all, is there anything more exciting in survival games than traversing a dangerous world with your friends? However, will you be able to experience this in SurrounDead?

The answer is “yes”, although you will have to be patient. It is not a secret that Multiplayer mode is going to be added to the game. It has even been included in the roap, which can be seen on a steam page of the game or Discord server in the roap tab.

However, developers do not consider it something that needs to be urgently added to the game. The roap has been divided into 5 phases. Currently, the game is in the middle of the first phase. Developers have already finished work on systems for durability, reworked inventory and infestations. The multiplayer mode, on the other hand, is planned for phase 5.

Zurvivor believes that the game needs new world events, an expanded quest system or reworked human AI more at this point, rather than a multiplayer mode. We can say that it will be a crowning element of the development process. So, you will have to wait some more time before you can play together with your friends.
