Release Date: March 13, 2007
A follow-up to the Sony's bestselling slasher released in 2005, whose plot is loosely based on the characters and events from Greek mythology. In God of War II we, once again, take on the role of Kratos, a Spartan warrior seeking vengeance, who, after having killed Ares, has become the new god of war.
God of War II for PS2 is a continuation to the bestselling action game published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2005. The main protagonist is Kratos, known from the first God of War, whose virtual adventures are based on Greek mythology. The protagonist has gained the title of god of war, becoming one of the Olympians, but he still must return to mundane reality and meet his destiny. Once again, the cruel and arrogant warrior reaches for his terrible Blades of Chaos, received from Ares himself, to obliterate his enemies. Among the latter we see beasts like cyclopes and griffins, and even the three-headed dog, Cerberus, from the depths of Hades. Aside from standard enemies, Kratos will also confront exceptionally powerful bosses.
The developers provided the hero with a lot of new attacks, which can be easily used to create truly devastating combinations. We can also strike our foes from afar instead of engaging in close combat, using many offensive spells (e.g. freezing and summoning powerful wind). Naturally, we will also face logical problems during our exploration (usually quite complicated), so in addition to fast fingers we may also be required to use our head. On the other hand, the game's 3D graphics squeeze out every bit of power available to PS2. The game is complemented by climatic soundtrack, which was composed and recorded with quality comparable to the first God of War.

God of War is a series of action adventure games with a third-person perspective (TPP) view. The authors of the series strongly allude to the convention of so-called slashers (hack'n'slash) - the essence of gameplay here is the brutal elimination of hordes of enemies and fighting giant bosses. Bloody carnage is interspersed with simple logic puzzles and simple platforming elements. The series also offers the possibility to develop the protagonist and improve his arsenal.
