Release Date: October 27, 2015
The fifth major installment in a bestselling science fiction FPS game franchise, whose consecutive editions were exclusively released for different generations of Microsoft consoles. This is the first iteration dedicated to Xbox One, developed by 343 Industries - the studio responsible for the previous installment as well as a low-budget production Halo: Spartan Assault.
Halo 5: Guardians is the fifth main chapter in the sci-fi FPS game series, one of the cornerstone franchises released on the Microsoft company’s consoles. This installment was developed by 343 Industries and is the first game in the series tailored specifically for Xbox One performance.
Story-wise, the game continues the plot introduced in Halo 4 in 2012, which followed the now famous John-117, commonly referred to as Master Chief. In the fifth part, however, he is not the only playable character. When an unexpected attack on a human colony shakes the foundations of peace yet again, humanity discovers that their hero has seemingly vanished without a trace. The game introduces a new protagonist: Jameson Locke, officer-gone-Spartan featured in the Halo: Nightfall live action series, whose objective is to find Master Chief and solve the mystery that threatens the entire human race.
The game’s story mode lets you explore three completely different worlds, while playing solo (with AI controlled team), or in cooperation for up to 4 people. Apart from the single player campaign, which shows events from two different perspectives, Halo 5 features also a vast array of multiplayer modes that the series is known for.
343 Industries did not simply copy well-proven ideas – Halo 5 features two new multiplayer modes: the Arena Mode is, generally speaking, a successor to the 4v4 team competition featured in the previous Halo games, the brand new Warzone Mode features epic battles for up to 24 players plus AI-controlled bots. This mode combines elements of PvP and PvE, as the rivalling teams have many extra objectives to complete. The battles are fought on large maps, the largest in the history of the series.
Halo’s debut on the eighth generation consoles led to a significant improvement in of visuals, as compared with the previous installments. Moreover, the game makes use of a number of exclusive Microsoft technologies, such as Kinect 2.0 or Xbox Smartglass. The community and social features were expanded as well, employing new version of Xbox Live.

That's the kind of story about Master Chief that I like. He knows what the odds are, and he keeps attacking anyway, taking the fight to enemy. Instead, we get a story about betrayal and an ultimate showdown. But that showdown isn't that satisfying, and it's not even what Microsoft promised in some of its earlier commercials. I was disappointed because I expected something really significant to happen in the ending, and all I got was a cliffhanger.
