Release Date: November 18, 2008
After the slightly more realistic ProStreet, in which the players raced on professional racing circuits, the popular Need for Speed series returns to city streets with a traditional, arcade installment. Developed by a Canadian EA branch, Undercover puts a special emphasis on the storyline. As an undercover cop, the player has to infiltrate the ranks of a racing gang.
Need for Speed: Undercover is the twelfth installment in the series of racing games from Electronic Arts. It was developed by the Canadian branch of the company, and breaks up with the idea of legal track racing, which was presented to the customers in ProStreet, and moves back to the underworld. This product is the first title in the series which appeared not only on personal computers and consoles, but also on iPhones.
Rather than throw players right in the vortex of the struggle for the title of king of street racing, the developers put special emphasis on the story with the aim to introduce the customers to the world of drivers who are struggling in the competition on the edge of the law. The story of Undercover is told by means of cutscenes with real actors. Among the cast we can find Christina Milian, a singer who portrays the beautiful Carmen.
The developers from the Vancouver studio also made sure that players have an adequate number of well-known brands of cars designed for driving with deadly speed and susceptible to tuning - both optical and mechanical. Need for Speed: Undercover traditionally offers improved graphic design and a rich soundtrack created by the participation of artists from around the world.

One of the oldest and most popular racing game series in the history of the industry. Need for Speed is one of the most valuable brands in Electronic Arts' portfolio, with the US company's in-house development studios, such as EA Black Box, EA Gothenburg, and Criterion Games, usually responsible for its subsequent installments. The series started in 1994 with The Need for Speed, designed for fifth-generation consoles (3DO, PlayStation, Sega Saturn) and PC. The production was prepared by the team from EA Canada studio, created as a result of the acquisition of Distinctive Software (devs of Test Drive and Test Drive II).
Today, Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed, and Need for Speed The Run will be pulled from digital distribution. EA also plans to end online for all of these games after the holidays.
