Persona 5: The Phantom X is a jRPG with gacha elements, distributed in a free-to-play model with micropayments, and a spin-off of the bestselling Persona 5 game, released in 2017. The production is the fruit of cooperation between Atlus, Sega and Perfect World (or more precisely - the latter's Black Wings Game Studio team).
Persona 5: The Phantom X takes us to an alternate version of the universe known from the game Persona 5. During the game we find ourselves in modern Tokyo, and we play the role of a high school student who leads a kind of sub-universal life.
While during the day he studies, establishes relationships and devotes himself to ordinary daily life, after nightfall he moves to mysterious and dangerous lands, where as the so-called Phantom Thief he faces destructive visions and other dangers. Wandering between reality and the Metaverse, the protagonist also visits the mysterious Velvet Room, where he faces his own destiny.
In Persona 5: The Phantom X, the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). As is the case in most other productions under the Persona banner, led by the original "five", the gameplay here takes place on two planes, so to speak.
From sunrise to sunset, we lead a normal life in Tokyo, attending classes, establishing relationships with NPCs and nurturing them or even going to work for a p?t-time job.
Under the cover of darkness, the power of the title Persona, a supernatural manifestation of our character's psyche, comes into play. Together with other Phantom Thieves, we explore dungeons called Palaces and face opponents called Shadows, which means inner demons slumbering in people. Clashes with them take place in turn-based mode, and involve skillful juggling of the abilities of individual characters.
As we progress, we develop our protégé, thanks to which his combat potential grows over time. It is worth ing at the same time that during the course of the game we are not chained to a single Persona - we can change them, gaining access to a variety of game styles.
The graphic design of Persona 5: The Phantom X was kept in the manga style characteristic of the series. The character designs were overseen by Shigenori Soejima, a distinguished member of the series, as well as other of his team.
