The Invincible is a first-person, retro-futuristic, thriller adventure game based on a sci-fi novel by Stanislaw Lem. The player must explore an alien planet, Regis III, in search of their crewmates, soon discovering the globe is very, very hostile.
The Invincible is a first-person retrofuturistic thriller and a loose adaptation of The Invincible, a novel by Stanislaw Lem. It's the debut project of Starward Industries, whose ranks include developers who have previously worked on such games as Dying Light.
The Invincible is set in an alternate world which never entered the digital age. All the highly advanced gear that appears in the game is based on analog technology.
We play as Yasna - a member of an interstellar research expedition. She starts the game alone, waking up on an alien planet, Regis III. She doesn't how she ended up here, but she knows for sure she didn't come alone. The remaining crew have disappeared, however, forcing her to go find them.
As she learns what happened to her crewmates, Yasna soon realizes Regis III is extremely dangerous. of an enemy human empire are present on the planet, and even the globe itself seems hostile to all outsiders.
The Invincible mostly focuses on exploration, storytelling and puzzles. As we progress through the game, we can talk to Astrogator Novik, our commander, who advises us over the radio. We can also use a probe and a set of tools to overcome obstacles.
The game makes use of the first-person perspective. The story is non-linear and changes depending on our decisions. As the story unfolds, we also learn what exactly led the researchers to Regis III.
The Invincible runs on the Unreal Engine, its retro-futuristic artstyle inspired by sci-fi novels and movies created early during the Cold War.

The Invincible Review - An Unexpected Gem Straight From Outer Space

Shacknews: 8 / 10 by Josh Broadwell
Annoyances and bugs aside, The Invincible is as bold and smart as its protagonist, and I can only hope it starts a trend of equally thoughtful takes on big ideas from history and literature.
Windows Central: 4.5 / 5 by Cole Martin
The landscape of Regis III is as stunning as it is haunting, and Yasna's journey in this unusual land is rife with philosophical and moral conundrums that leave you with plenty to think about even after the credits roll.
PlayStation Universe: 7.5 / 10 by Garri Bagdasarov
I enjoyed exploring Regis III and uncovering the various mysteries that it holds. However, while the gameplay is simple and basic, The Invincible excels in its fantastic writing and performances from main characters, Yasna and Novick. As I played through the game, I was driven deeper and deeper into its narrative until the big reveals were finally unleashed.
