The Light Remake is - according to its title - a remake of a free exploratory adventure game The Light. The original was developed in 2012 as the work of Sergei Noskov, an independent artist who later became famous for his The Train (2016), 7th Sector. Like those games, the remake of The Light was the author's own work. A year after its release on PC, the game was published on consoles as In Rays of the Light.

Plot

The story of The Light remained as modest as in the original game. The protagonist wakes up in an abandoned building in a place resembling a post-Soviet housing estate and begins to explore the area. The adventure ends with one of two endings, depending on our actions during the game.

Mechanics

The Light Remake is a classic exploratory game with FPP view. The gameplay comes down to wandering through empty, gloomy but beautiful locations and occasional interaction with objects. The game was conceived not so much as a game, but as an experience with a philosophical subtext. The author himself described his work as a "first-person meditation quest". The game itself is very short, but the gameplay is extended by two available endings, encouraging you to play the game again.

Technical aspects

The audiovisual setting was one of the attractions of The Light. Remake uses the newer version of the Unity engine from the original, so the game offers high quality, realistic graphics. The gameplay is accompanied by a calm, relaxing soundtrack.
