Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia is the first of several Total War series' spin-offs developed by Creative Assembly. The creators focus on historical periods and events, which are not extensive enough to establish a background of a full-fledged installment. Similarly to other Total War games, this title is available on PC Windows exclusively.

Plot

Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia takes players to the British Isles from the 9th century. The action of the game begins in 878 AD when the army led by King Alfred the Great has defeated the Danes led by King Guthrumem at Ethandun. As a result, the overall situation has stabilized for the first time in eight decades.

The peace did not last long, though, as the Kings of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland started to fight over which kingdom should predominate in the Union of the Isles. Moreover, the Norse Warlords decided to seize the opportunity and ed the fight. Players are tasked with siding with a given faction and leading it to victory.
